New schedule for Autumn 2013


From Monday 16th September I will be offering four styles of class in Salies de Béarn …

Traditional Hatha Yoga: a quiet, relaxed Hatha class with breathing, stretching and toning followed by a longer relaxation.

Astanga Vinyasa Flow Yoga: a dynamic series of postures and sequences to increase co-ordination, tone and strengthen the body.

Pregnancy Yoga: gentle breathing, stretching and strengthening exercises to prepare body and mind for birth.

Weekly Keep Fit: combining light cardio, toning and stretching exercises with a bit of choreography to some great music to give you an all-round feel-good workout.

All classes will be held in my home-studio on the rue Saint Martin, with a maximum of four participants per Yoga class and six for the Weekly Keep Fit.  Places must be reserved in advance either by phone ( or email. Classes will be adapted to suit the particular needs of the participants, so please get in touch before your first class to discuss your requirements.

9-10.15am: Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Yoga (beginners)
10.45-11.45am: Weekly Keep Fit
12.15-1.30pm: Pregnancy Yoga

9-10.15am: Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow Yoga
10.30-11.45am: Traditional Hatha Yoga in French
12.15-1.30pm: Traditional Hatha Yoga in English

Monday 16th September – Friday 21st December inclusive.

Weekly Keep Fit – 60 minutes – 10€/person/class; or 112€/person/14-week term.
Yoga – 75 minutes – 12€/person/class; or 140€/person/14-week term once a week; or 230€/person/14-week term twice a week.
Cheques accepted, made payable to Victoria Tonkin.

Please note: due to the small classes, cancellation for any reason must be confirmed at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged the usual rate.  If you are unable to attend your regular class, you can come to another during the same week or two the following week.  No refunds or credit available and a pre-payment for the term is only valid in that term.

Each yoga class will have a maximum of four participants.  You are encouraged to come to the same class each week to allow your body and mind to fully reap the benefits of this ancient discipline.  Two classes per week are recommended for maximum benefit.

For all yoga classes you will need warm and comfy clothes that enable a full range of movement, and bring a blanket for the relaxation.  You’ll also need a yoga mat, of which I have a stock of eco-friendly, non-toxic and machine-washable mats for 15€ each. If you are not comfortable sitting on the floor, please bring a sturdy cushion. Special yoga cushions (or zafus) are available at Anahata in Salies or online from Chin Mudra. Please arrive five minutes before the class is due to start.

Pregnancy Yoga is only recommended to those who have a strong personal practice during the first trimester.  For beginners or irregular practitioners, it is recommended that you start in the second trimester and continue through to the end of the third trimester.

IMG_5373For the Weekly Keep Fit you’ll need a pair of trainers and comfortable sports clothing, such as shorts and t-shirt or tracksuit.  It’s always good to layer-up so you can remove and add layers as your body temperature changes.

All classes are suitable for all levels, however you are encouraged to discuss any changes to your levels of physical activity with your doctor and a medical certificate is advised for those with existing medical conditions.  If you have any queries or questions please give me a call on
